This year holds extra significance as 2025 marks the 100th anniversary of Runwell becoming a Parish Council officially established on 16th March 1925. To commemorate this incredible milestone the Council hosted a celebratory afternoon at the Village Hall where past and present Councillors gathered to share stories enjoy tea and cakes and reflect on a century of local service and community progress.
As part of the afternoon events the old flag was ceremoniously lowered marking the end of one chapter. Former Councillor Roy Dockerill was then invited to raise the new Parish Council flag symbolising a bright future and honouring those who have served the community throughout the decades.
Guests were then welcomed into the Village Hall to enjoy refreshments and light conversation. The celebration continued with live entertainment by The Ladybirds a local harmony group who brought smiles and a touch of nostalgia to the room.
Runwell Parish Council Chairman Paul Clark who spoke on the theme “Then and Now.” His remarks reflected on how the village has grown over the years while still holding true to its roots.
